Cefagen 250mg 5ml SUSP 50ml, Cefuroxime

The usual dose is :
Adults and children over 12 years : The usual dose is 250 mg , for taking orally , every 12 hours, either in tablet or the equivalent amount of suspension.
In some diseases such as acute bronchitis , acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis and pneumonia , the dose may be increased to 500 mg per serving , orally every 12 hours as long as your doctor deems necessary.
Children 5 to 12 years : The usual dose is 125 mg taken orally every 12 hours. In children with otitis media and in cases where the physician deems necessary , the dose may be increased to 250 mg per serving , orally, every 12 hours, either in tablet or the equivalent amount of suspension.
Children 3 months to 5 years : In general, 15 mg per kilogram of weight per day , divided into two doses. In children with otitis media and in cases where the physician deems necessary , the dose may be increased to twice .
We recommend taking the tablet whole without chewing or crushing, using a little water or other liquid and having anything to eat .
There is no experience in children under 3 months.
Do not stop treatment unless your doctor tells you . The usual duration of treatment is 5 to 10 days. It is advisable not to prolong the treatment for more than 10 days.
If you think the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor .

If you become pregnant, contact your doctor immediately .
If a doctor prescribes another medication , let him know that receiving cefuroxime.
Check with your doctor regularly the course of the condition giving rise to the administration of cefuroxime. Perhaps there is some reason that has prevented him from properly receiving the indicated doses and induce your doctor to erroneous conclusions about treatment.
Do not restart on its own initiative cefuroxime treatment without first talking to your doctor, or recommend their decision to another person, even if have the same symptoms you have. Nor is it advisable to interrupt or reduce the dose without considering the opinion of your doctor.
If during treatment with cefuroxime feel unwell , consult your doctor immediately .
If you use more medicine than you should
Overdose is unlikely to occur with this medicine . If for any reason you have taken more than cefuroxime should immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist or the Poisons Information Service in your country.
If you forget to take cefuroxime
Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses. If you miss a dose, take the following as soon as possible and continue as hitherto .

Like all medicines, cefuroxime may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately :
If you experience difficulty breathing, chest tightness , swelling of eyelids , face or lips or if rash or bumps appear on the skin.
Stop taking this medication and tell your doctor as soon as possible:
If you experience any of the following symptoms: nausea, major diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, rectal bleeding , stool with mucus or pus or appearance of yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Do not stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor:
If you experience any of the following symptoms : itching, discoloration or scaliness of the skin , headaches, mild nausea or diarrhea , easy bruising appearance .
The observed and associated with the taking of cefuroxime side effects are:
Common side effects (likely to occur in at least 1 in 100 and less than 1 in 10 people)
- Headaches, dizziness
- Gastrointestinal upset including diarrhea , nausea , abdominal pain
- Eosinophilia (increased number of certain types of leukocytes)
- Transient elevations in levels of liver enzymes
- Growth of the yeast Candida
Uncommon side effects (likely to occur in at least 1 in 1000 and less than 1 in 100 people)
- Thrombocytopenia (decreased platelet count )
- Leukopenia ( decreased number of leukocytes) in deep occasions
- Rash
- Vomiting
Rare side effects (likely to occur in at least 1 in 10,000 and less than 1 in 1,000 people )
- Urticaria , pruritus ( itching)
- Pseudomembranous colitis ( bloody diarrhea mucosa )
Very rare side effects (likely to occur in fewer than 1 in 10,000 people)
- Hemolytic anemia ( decreased number of red blood cells)
- Drug fever , serum sickness ( allergic reaction late onset ) , anaphylaxis ( hypersensitivity reaction immediate appearance )
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and / or eyes) . hepatitis
- Severe rashes
